First Weeks on Air

Radio Enfield doesn't quite date back to the days when radio announcers wore dinner jackets and bow ties, however for the first few weeks on air there was a Saturday morning rehearsal (at the time Radio Enfield just broadcast two hours a week on Sunday evening). The rehearsal was quickly dropped but programmes were recorded as they were broadcast so that they could be played back immediately after the show had finished enabling a critical review to be made by those present. Everyone was at his or her best on air to ensure little criticism could be made at the end of the evening!
